It’s Memorial Day Weekend, so instead of talking about interest rates or VA appraisals, I wanted to do something different.
I’ve seen a lot of messages over the years about the “right” way to honor the fallen on Memorial Day. To be honest I don’t think there’s a right or wrong way…some people get solemn, some use it as a day to celebrate with friends and family, and some honestly just treat it like a long weekend.
I’d never pretend to speak for all Veterans or any Gold Star families, but here’s what I know for sure…
My friend, Ron Winchester, wouldn’t want tears. He’d want to be remembered by drinking cold beers with friends while grilling some red meat. Anything less and he’d give me an earful of very colorful language for missing the point.
So that’s what I’ll be doing this weekend – spending time with family, having a beer (or two) while grilling some meat, and remembering a great friend who gave everything.
If you’ve got the time, I’d encourage you to read Ronnie’s story. Ron Winchester is worth knowing:
Thanks for letting me share. We’ll get back to mortgage tips and market updates next week.
